What We Do
EMDR Pakistan Association
The EMDR Pakistan Association exists to promote healing, resilience, and mental health recovery by advancing the ethical and culturally grounded use of EMDR therapy in Pakistan. Our work spans clinical training, capacity building, research, community outreach, and professional accreditation.
Build a Skilled Workforce of Trauma Therapists
We deliver accredited EMDR trainings tailored for mental health professionals in Pakistan, including psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, and social workers. Through structured training pathways and supervised practice, we support clinicians in becoming trauma-informed and EMDR-competent.
Maintain Clinical and Ethical Standards
We serve as a national body for EMDR-related accreditation, certification, and quality assurance. Our certification process ensures that EMDR practitioners and consultants in Pakistan meet internationally recognized benchmarks while remaining sensitive to local cultural, linguistic, and ethical contexts.
Advance Culturally Relevant Research
We encourage and collaborate on trauma-focused research that reflects the realities of Pakistan’s mental health landscape. From disaster-affected populations to interpersonal violence, we support data-driven insights into how EMDR can contribute to scalable, sustainable healing.
Engage in Public Mental Health Advocacy
We raise awareness about trauma, its effects, and evidence-based treatments like EMDR. Through campaigns, community education, and media partnerships, we work to reduce stigma and promote access to care — especially in underserved regions.
Facilitate Global and Regional Collaboration
As part of the global EMDR community, we engage with international trainers, researchers, and associations to bring the latest developments in trauma therapy to Pakistan. We also support South-South collaborations and regional knowledge exchange.
Offer Supervision, Consultation, and Peer Support
We provide structured consultation pathways for new therapists, advanced practitioners, and consultants-in-training. We also host peer support forums and learning groups that create space for reflection, feedback, and growth.
Create Resources in Local Languages
Recognizing the linguistic and cultural diversity of Pakistan, we are developing Urdu and regional language materials for both clients and clinicians. These include psychoeducation tools, client handouts, and session scripts tailored for local use.
