EMDR Pakistan has truly matured into a leading force in psychotrauma interventions. As Patron, I take immense pride in witnessing its remarkable growth and dynamism. Our expanding network of dedicated professionals is a testament to our commitment to building a skilled workforce equipped to address the increasing challenges posed by natural and human-made disasters.

Key milestones, such as hosting international trainers, participating in global events, and supporting national disaster relief efforts, have significantly contributed to our organization’s stature. Notably, EMDR Pakistan is now the proud host of the Journal of EMDR Asia, with the inaugural issue available on our website.

President, EMDR Pakistan

Dr. Sawera Mansoor
President, EMDR Pakistan Association
Associate Professor of Psychiatry Foundation University Islamabad

It is both an honor and a profound responsibility to serve as the President of EMDR Pakistan. Since our inception, EMDR Pakistan has stood as a symbol of hope, resilience, and healing, transforming lives through evidence-based trauma care. As I step into this role, I carry with me the legacy of our founders and a vision for continued excellence, compassion, and impact.

At the heart of my vision lies a simple yet powerful belief: Healing is possible, and every person deserves access to that healing. EMDR therapy empowers individuals to process their pain, reconnect with their strengths, and reclaim their lives. As practitioners, we are privileged to walk alongside them on that journey.

My tenure is dedicated to building capacity, expanding access, and institutionalizing the work we do. We are committed to developing a cohesive and competent EMDR workforce across Pakistan, grounded in ethical and professional standards. With the emergence of new consultants and trainers, we will expand our training programs to reach underserved and geographically distant regions in Pakistan. Refresher courses, quality assurance protocols, and advanced trainings with international experts will ensure our practices remain current and impactful.

One of our most urgent priorities is launching the Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) under the EMDR Pakistan banner. Our communities are no strangers to trauma, from natural disasters to acts of man-made violence; a coordinated trauma response network is essential. EMDR Pakistan is building a database of trained volunteer responders across provinces, ready to offer timely, culturally sensitive support to those affected, whether in-person or through digital platforms.

Research and documentation are the backbone of sustainable growth. For the first time, we are formally activating the Research and Development Wing of EMDR Pakistan. We aim to support clinicians in conducting case reports, clinical studies, and randomized trials. By institutionalizing ethical approvals, expert mentorship, and funding opportunities, we will build a robust database of local trauma research that informs practice and policy.
Our future also lies in international collaboration. EMDR Pakistan has already begun making its mark globally, with strong representation at the EMDR Asia Conference in Cambodia and the recent hybrid advanced training facilitated by international leaders. We will continue to strengthen ties with EMDRIA, EMDR Asia, and EMDR Europe, ensuring Pakistani therapists are part of a global community of healing.

In all we do, meticulous documentation, transparent governance, and unwavering commitment to the Constitution of EMDR {Pakistan Association will guide us. Let us build an association that not only heals but also leads. Scientifically, ethically, and compassionately.
As Rumi reminds us, “The wound is the place where the light enters you.” Let us be the light that guides our communities from pain to healing, and from survival to growth.

Thank you for joining me on this journey.
